During his appearance at the SXSW Film Festival, Bob Odenkirk addressed rumors that he had been cast in Wonder Man, which turned out to be untrue.
However, while praising Marvel actors, saying he “loves what they’re doing” and “how hard they work,” he also shared that he would be open to joining the franchise.
“Surely I would. Yes. So many great actors do it, and they’re great people,” he told The Direct. “Kevin Feige, I did speak to him once. Good guy. And I love what they’re doing. I love how hard they work at making their universe work and building it out.”
This differs from Odenkirk’s earlier stance, when he said he preferred more “grounded” and “relatable” roles over comic book characters.
For now, though, there’s still no official word on whether the Breaking Bad star will join the MCU.
What Role Bob Odenkirk Might Play in the MCU?
Back in 2023, Marvel was reportedly planning to give Bob Odenkirk a role in Wonder Man. He was allegedly set to play Neal Saroyan, Simon Williams’ longtime agent from the comics.
However, the role was said to have gone to Ed Harris, though neither the actor nor the character has appeared in the Disney+ series so far.
Looking ahead, there are still several roles that could suit Odenkirk. One unexpected option is Norman Osborn, aka the Green Goblin.
While Willem Dafoe famously portrayed the character in the Spider-Man films, Odenkirk could potentially take on a new version within the MCU’s Earth-616 if the character is reintroduced in future projects.
He could also join Daredevil: Born Again in a role similar to a morally complex politician, someone like Matthew Lillard’s Mr. Charles, who opposes Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio).
