Freddie Prinze Jr. recently opened up about his voice cameo role as Kanan Jarrus in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The Rebels voice actor reprised his fan-favorite role in the final installment of the sequel trilogy. He was one of the Jedi voices that Rey heard to strengthen herself during her climactic battle against Palpatine.

While it was a brief voice cameo, fans were still happy that the actors who played the Jedi characters in past projects reprised their roles for the special moment.

In a recent interview, Prinze addressed his voice cameo as Kanan Jarrus in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and revealed that he had to be convinced to reprise the role.

"I feel like every time Kanan gets put out there, since the cartoon, it dilutes the character a little bit. I wasn't even crazy about doing the voiceover in the last movie, and it took a couple of phone calls to convince me to do so," he shared.

"I didn't think Kanan was that powerful to be a Force ghost that would communicate from the past."

However, Prinze is not open to playing a different role in the Star Wars franchise as he believes that actors should not repeat the same kind of character.

"So, no, my answer is no. I wouldn't do Star Wars, and I wouldn't want to play a different character. I don't like that. I don't like it when other actors do it either," he added.

"I don't want you playing two superheroes; play one. It's weird otherwise, right? Not that you can't do it if you're capable of doing it. I just want to see you as this guy or that guy. I wouldn't want to play a different one."

Prinze's comments might be discouraging for fans who would have wanted to see the actor play another role in the franchise whether it's a different character or Kanan Jarrus in a live-action flashback.

Nevertheless, Prinze's contribution to the franchise will always be remarkable for many fans as he turned Kanan into a beloved Jedi who is pivotal to the story of Rebels and the journey of the other main characters.
