Former Earth Wind & Fire drummer Fred White passed away at age 67.

In an Instagram post announcing the death of Fred White, his brother and bandmate Verdine White wrote:
"Child protégé, member of the EWF ORIGINAL 9, with gold records at the tender age of 16!"
The real cause of death remains unknown as of this writing.

After beginning his drumming career with Donny Hathaway, Fred White joined Earth, Wind & Fire in 1974 with his brothers Verdine and Maurice. He played on eight of the band's studio albums, from 1975's “That's the Way of the World” through 1983's “Electric Universe,” and can be heard on such classics as "Shining Star" and "September."
Fred White, in 2000, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Earth, Wind & Fire. The drummer was preceded in death by his brother Maurice in 2016. The group’s longtime saxophonist, Andrew Woolfork, passed away in April 2022.
