Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition Coming to Consoles?

Have you ever looked at the wide open-world and beautiful graphics of Final Fantasy XV and thought "I sure wish these character models were more chibi?" Then you probably really liked Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition, a cute project that retold the story of the game with chibi graphics for mobile devices. Square Enix had actually teased this version of the game coming to Nintendo Switch since the actual game might not be optimized for the device's dual nature.

What fans didn't expect was for the Pocket Edition to come to consoles like PS4 and Xbox One but that might actually be the case.

Gematsu has reported about spotting Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition HD on the PS4's North American online store. However, upon choosing this option it goes to an error screen. Square Enix will likely remove this option until the game is ready but fans can check the screenshot for proof.

Having the Pocket Edition on PS4 and Xbox One is a little odd since they already have the main games to enjoy. Perhaps some fans want a more light-hearted approach to the game, hence the porting of Pocket Edition to current-gen systems but it's still an odd move.

If Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition HD does come to PS4 and Xbox One, it will likely come to the Switch as well. This would make it the very first Final Fantasy system for the system, which is an odd little factoid for the Switch to have should it come true. Stay tuned for more details.

Final Fantasy XV is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and Windows computers. Pocket Edition is available on iOS and Android devices.
