After two installments, the Fantastic Beasts series is heading to its third film with Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore which will continue the next chapter of Newt Scamander and the gang's wizarding journey in the 20th century. Now, after the short teaser that was released last Friday, we finally have our first full look at the upcoming film.
Warner Bros. has released the first official trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore which highlighted Newt Scamander and his gang as they navigate the impending threat from Gellert Grindelwald's army while also dealing with the shocking revelation from the end of the second film in which it was revealed that Ezra Miller's character Credence Barebone is actually Albus Dumbledore's brother Aurelis.
However, the main highlight of the trailer is our first full look at Mads Mikkelsen as the new Gellert Grindelwald, replacing Johnny Depp who was fired last year. You can view the trailer here:
Based on the footage, it looks like the film is going to be epic and magical yet again and it also seems that the scope will be much bigger than the previous films given that they are going to face the biggest threat yet with Grindelwald's army. This should excite fans who have been looking forward to the third installment.
Per the official synopsis, the film is set in the 1930s leading up to the Wizarding World's involvement in World War II and "will explore the magical communities in Bhutan, Germany, and China in addition to previously established locations including Brazil, the United States, and United Kingdom. With Grindelwald's power rapidly growing, Albus Dumbledore entrusts Newt Scamander and his friends on a mission that will lead to a clash with Grindelwald's army, and will lead Dumbledore to ponder how long he will stay on the sidelines in the approaching war."
Returning cast members include Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Callum Turner, and Jessica Williams. Mikkelsen joins as Gellert Grindlewald, replacing Depp who played the role in the last two films. David Yates is also back to direct the film.
