We all know what the ESPYS are, we respect the ESPYS and what they have become, we enjoy celebrating the amazing stories, we enjoy getting emotional, all those things," he said in his show.

"So if we're hiring Shane Gillis as the host, I think we're here to enjoy our evening. I believe that is the message that is being sent. Hopefully, positively. I'm pumped for Shane."

What to Expect in the 2025 ESPY Awards

Aside from the confirmation that Gillis will host the ceremony, the other details are still under wraps, and the nominees have not been announced.

In a statement, ESPN shared its excitement about having Gillis as the host of the ceremony.

"Shane is not only one of the top comedians today, but also a huge sports fan, which made him an easy choice to host The ESPYS," said Craig Lazarus, ESPN vice president and executive producer of The ESPYS.

"We are thrilled to work with him to create an entertaining show celebrating this year's best moments in sports and are excited to see what he'll do on stage."

The ceremony will take place this July 16 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. It will air live on ABC and ESPN+ at 8 pm ET.
