The ending of Extraction 2 barely bid fans farewell from the adrenaline-driven franchise. So, here is everything fans of the franchise need to know about Extraction 3 so far.
When Does Extraction 3 Start Filming? Does It Have a Release Date?
Chris Hemsworth's Extraction franchise is about to turn into a trilogy and for good reason.
Considering that Extraction 2 had viewers on the edge of their seats, we have yet to figure out the relationship between Idris Elba's Alcott and Chris Hemsworth's Tyler Rake.
At the New York Comic-Con 2024, the Russo Brothers confirmed that the threequel will be set in motion soon and also dropped when they can be expected to film the upcoming threequel.
"We're in the middle of working on that [Extraction 3] story right now. Hard at work. We're hoping to go into production on it next year," Avengers director Joe Russo announced, before adding, " It's definitely filming next year. I'm just being cagey because it's more fun."
That said, if 2025 is the beginning of production, then it's likely for Extraction 3 to hit the big screens sometime in 2026.
What Idris Elba's Return Means For Extraction 3
Considering that Extraction 3 has only been recently confirmed, there are no details yet as to which of the cast members will be returning to the threequel.
However, the interview with the Russo Brothers highlights Idris Elba's cryptic "Man in the Suit" character.
"Yes, we know who that character is. It was built that way," Russo replied, "If you like that relationship between Idris and Chris [Hemsworth], you're gonna enjoy Extraction 3."
For now, the most that we can rely on is what the Man in the Suit told Tyler at the end of Extraction 2 when the latter asked him what his name was: "My name doesn't matter."
Then this pretty much expands what we can expect in Extraction 3 and just how major of a character Idris Elba will be in developing the franchise further.
Is Extraction 3 Connected to the Sequel? Where Does Netflix Leave Us?
Plot details are, of course, still under wraps, but based on what the Russo Brothers teased, Extraction 3 is highly likely connected to the events of bailing Tyler Rake and his team out of prison.
'Who will be kidnapped next?' and 'What will their next mission entail?' are the main highlights to look forward to in this adrenaline-driven threequel coming out soon.
