Many movie theaters in the United States may still be closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but movie-lovers and TV show bingers will have a lot of new original titles to enjoy in April 2021, giving them more reasons to stay home and watch safely from their own couches.

Neflix has announced a list of new films and TV shows coming to its streaming service in April 2021, including Thunderforce, a new superhero comedy strring Melissa McCarthy, Octavia Spencer, Jason Bateman, and Bobby Cannavale. Directed and written by Ben Falcolne (McCarthy's husband), Thunder Force is about a scientist (Spencer) who accidentally injects her best friend (McCarthy) with superhuman abilities, prompting them to team-up to save Chicago from a dangerous villain.
For fans of the fantasy genre, Shadow of Bone is also coming in April 23. It's an original adaptation of Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse novels Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows novels. Shadow of Bone follows Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li), who unleashes an extraordinary power that could be the key to setting her country free. With the monstrous threat of the Shadow Fold looming, she is torn from everything she knows to train as part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha. But as she struggles to control her power, she finds that allies and enemies can be one and the same and that nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. There are dangerous forces at play, including a crew of charismatic criminals, and it will take more than magic to survive.
