The excitement surrounding Solo Leveling Season 2 continues to build, and the recently released English dub of Episode 2 has taken things to the next level by including a key line from Sung Jinwoo that was removed in the Japanese version.
In the original manhwa by Chugong, Jinwoo delivers a cold line that was left out of the Japanese adaptation.
However, Aleks Le, the voice actor for Jinwoo in the English dub, ensured that this iconic line was included, bringing it to life and doing justice to the character.
Aleks Le Included Jinwoo’s Line “Four” in Solo Leveling S2E2 English Dub
In a post on X, Le revealed that Jinwoo's line "four" was removed from the sub-version of Solo Leveling.
The scene in question occurs when Jinwoo interrupts Kim Chul’s count from one to three while walking toward the lower-ranked hunters. Le suggested that the removal was likely due to timing issues.
In the original manhwa, which Le shared alongside a clip of the scene, Jinwoo continues the countdown with a cold “four” before slamming Kim into the ground. However, in the Japanese version, Jinwoo is simply silent.
So, after recording the episode, Le and voice director Caitlin Glass decided to include the line in the English dub, explaining that “it was just too cold” to leave out.
Evidently, Le gave the line—and the scene—the justice it deserved, making Jinwoo’s battle against Kim even more intense.
Aleks Le Received Praise from Solo Leveling Fans
In the comments section of Le’s post, he received heaps of praise from Solo Leveling fans, with one user saying that any dub he works on is a “good dub.”
As humble as ever, the voice actor explained that he’s simply doing his “best to make a good dub.”
He also revealed that they frequently reference both the English translation and the original Korean text of the manhwa during their work, calling it a “huge source of inspiration.”
Le also confessed that he loves the “four” scene where Jinwoo takes control and owns the moment.
Fans Can’t Help but Notice Solo Leveling Season 2’s Cut Content
While Solo Leveling Season 2 successfully maintains the series’ trademark action and pacing, the fact that it only has 13 episodes leaves fans noticing the cut content, which leads to significant changes—particularly for those familiar with the manhwa.
Take Episode 3, for example. While it features Sung Il-Hwan, Jinwoo’s father and a highly skilled A-rank Hunter, being interrogated by Hwang Dongsoo, much of their dialogue is shortened.
This cuts down on the intensity of the interrogation and limits fans’ opportunity to gain deeper insights into Sung’s character.
If the scene had stayed true to the source material, it could have provided more context about the dungeon gates, magic beasts, and Hwang’s hopes to reunite with his brother.
Additionally, Jinwoo’s battle with Vulcan was also significantly cut, leading to major changes in a pivotal moment between the world’s strongest hunter and his soldiers.
In the manhwa, Igris offers the demon’s head to Jinwoo, but Iron snatches it away to get Jinwoo’s attention. Jinwoo then tells Igris to stop, resulting in a humorous moment that could have provided some levity amidst the intense action and serious tone of the episode.
However, it can’t be denied that A-1 Pictures is doing a great job animating Solo Leveling Season 2, especially with Jinwoo’s battles. It’s just that they seem to prioritize maintaining the tone of the battles, which leaves fans missing some key moments from the manhwa.
