The violence and emotional distress Cassie Ventura allegedly received from her ex, Sean Diddy Combs, were detailed as she took the witness stand on Tuesday.
Ventura first made shocking allegations against Combs when she accused him of rape and abuse in 2023, which ushered in the beginning of the mogul’s downfall.
Cassie Ventura’s Shocking Revelations About Her Abusive Relationship with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
Casandra "Cassie" Ventura’s decade-long relationship with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was recalled in court during the second day of proceedings in the music producer’s sex-trafficking trial.
Now eight months pregnant with Alex Fine, Ventura was the sole witness who appeared in the Manhattan courtroom that day, and she went over the disturbing specifics of her experience with Combs.
She detailed how controlling the mogul was. “Control was everything, from the way that I looked, to what I was working on that day, to who I was speaking to.”
Ventura also mentioned Combs’ mood swings. When they got into minor disagreements, or when she made “the wrong expression,” or even if she had nothing to do with his bad day, she would be physically assaulted.
“He would bash me on my head, knock me over, drag me, kick me, stomp me on the head if I was down,” the 38-year-old model stated, noting that she constantly had injuries and “bruises all over” her body.
But according to Ventura, it wasn’t just physical abuse. Combs would also allegedly order his employees to take her belongings and kick her out of the house after an argument.
Perhaps one of the most traumatic experiences she endured was the sexual aspect of their relationship, as Combs would reportedly subject Ventura to his voyeuristic fantasies.
The act, known as the “freak-offs,” involved the singer engaging in sexual encounters with different men, which became more and more frequent as time went on.
She also admitted to using drugs such as ketamine and cocaine during the “freak-offs.” Ventura said it became her way to disassociate, since she “needed to remain high to stay present with the experience.”
Although she would get sick from using these drugs, she confessed that ecstasy would arouse her, while ketamine made her feel detached from reality. Ventura revealed that Combs was also aware that the drugs made her sick.
Cassie Ventura’s Long-Term Horrific Relationship with Ex, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs — and Why It Took So Long for Her to Escape
Ventura shared how she first became involved with Combs when she testified at the Daniel Patrick Moynihan United States Courthouse in Manhattan on Tuesday.
The Me & U artist said she met Combs when she was 19 and signed an album deal with his company, Bad Boy Records, in 2006.
“I wanted to be around Sean for the same reasons as everyone else at the time — just this exciting, entertaining, fun guy who also happened to have my career in his hands.”
They became closer and more intimate after that. But as their relationship continued, Ventura was exposed to significant mistreatment and psychological harm from her partner.
Naturally, many are wondering what caused Ventura to stay with Combs while enduring the alleged abuse.
According to a study by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 10 men experience various forms of violence from abusive partners in their lifetime.
The study also states that the most dangerous and life-threatening time for a victim is when they attempt to leave their abuser. Informing a partner of plans to leave often increases the risk of violence or even homicide.
Psychologist Elizabeth L. Jeglic explained, “The decision to remain in an abusive relationship is influenced by a range of complex and deeply personal factors.”
One of those factors could be the reported power dynamic between Ventura and Combs, as she was a young, new artist in an industry he largely dominated.
“It is wrong to assume that leaving an abusive relationship is a simple or available option for those in abusive relationships,” said Jeglic, a professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
