Elizabeth Banks Marks Start of Production for the Charlie's Angels Reboot

It's been more than a decade since Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle came out, and the franchise is primed for a reboot. Elizabeth Banks has been attached to direct a Charlie's Angels movie, and she marks the start of production today.

The movie is set to come out next year and will have Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska as the three main angels. It's also been said that Banks herself will play the role of Bosley; while Patrick Stewart is also attached to play another Bosley.

I'll be honest, I don't really know what to expect from the film. I know that Banks has made great work when it comes to comedies like the Pitch Perfect franchise, but I have no idea how she can handle action. I'm very pleased to see her rise in Hollywood, though. She's moved on from actress to producer, and now director of her own feature.

Looking back at the McG version of Charlie's Angels, I actually thought that the films were pretty fun. Sure a lot of things may not have slipped past the #MeToo era of today, but there was some genuinely good action, and the angels in the film all had great chemistry.

We don't know how Stewart, Scott, and Balinska will play out onscreen, but hopefully Banks has assembled a great cast with this reboot. I'm just hoping we get our first look at the new angels before the year ends.

Charlie's Angels is set to come out Sept. 27, 2019.
