Dune: Part 2 Star Javier Bardem Gushes About Returning For Sequel

Dune: Part II is currently one of the most highly anticipated sequels of the year and the returning cast members are thrilled to be coming back in the film. Not surprisingly, Javier Bardem is excited about being in the second movie and he couldn't help but rave about Denis Villeneuve's new film.

Javier Bardem is currently promoting The Little Mermaid but he was more than happy to discuss Dune: Part 2 with Collider.

When asked what it is like working on the sequel, the Skyfall star admitted that he still couldn't believe that he is part of the project.

"Amazing," Bardem said of filming for Dune: Part 2. "I mean, what another gift that life brought to me, and I don't know what I did to deserve that."

When his Little Mermaid co-star Melissa McCarthy pointed out that he is "really good," the humble Bardem immediately credited the Dune director.

"Denis Villeneuve, he's like [The Little Mermaid director] Rob Marshall, they are so lovely human beings with such a creative mastermind behind that," he said. "It's a pleasure to be near them, so it's another gift."

Javier Bardem will return as Stilgar, the leader of the Fremen tribe at Sietch Tabr who accepted Paul Atreides as part of their people. Dune: Part 2 will follow Paul as he adapts to the ways of the Fremen and falls in love with Chani, the woman he sees in his dreams of Arrakis.

Dune: Part II will also star Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling.

They will be joined by new cast members Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Léa Seydoux, and Christopher Walken. The film hits theaters on November 3, 2023.

Javier Bardem plays King Triton (not Ariel) in The Little Mermaid, which will premiere on Friday, May 26, 2023.
