Dragon Ball DAIMA is a new show gaining a lot of popularity among fans, and it’s easy to see why, with its connection to the Dragon Ball Z canon and familiar feel.

While it starts off by leaning on nostalgia, it gradually evolves into something fresh and unique, just as the late Akira Toriyama envisioned.

The English dub of Dragon Ball DAIMA is finally arriving on January 10, 2025. However, this won’t be the first time the show is available in English. In addition to the dubbed trailer released in September, Toei Animation and Fathom Events held the world premiere of the dub in U.S. theaters, showcasing the first three episodes on November 10, 11, and 12.

The trailer and screenings revealed the English dub cast, featuring familiar voices like Sean Schemmel as Goku and Stephanie Nadolny, who previously voiced young Goku and Gohan, now voicing Mini Goku.

Currently, there are 8 episodes available in the original Japanese dub. The English dub will catch up with a weekly release on Crunchyroll starting in early January 2025 in the U.S., Canada, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.

Along with Sean Schemmel and Stephanie Nadolny, fans are excited to hear more performances from established voice actors such as Kent Williams as Supreme Kai, Chris Sabat as Vegeta, and Monica Rial as Bulma, among others.

Dragon Ball DAIMA debuted in October 2024 and has already made a big splash in the industry. Its latest episodes have captivated viewers with surprising revelations about the Z-fighters, bringing back longtime fans and attracting new audiences eager to follow the series each week.

However, no fandom is without differing opinions. The announcement of the English dub’s release date drew a wave of feedback on X. While many fans celebrated the return of iconic English voice actors and the confirmed release date, others expressed frustration over the delay in the dub’s availability.

Some fans criticized the long wait for English-speaking audiences, questioning why Toei Animation hasn’t opted for a simuldub format, as other recent popular anime like Kaiju No. 8 and Dandadan have done.

Others pointed out that some foreign-language dubs are already available, yet English-speaking fans have to wait three months.

Despite the mixed reactions, the uproar highlights the show’s global appeal. Western fans are especially excited to hear Goku and the Z-fighters in English again, proving the franchise’s lasting popularity worldwide.
