Donny Osmond recently hinted that his retirement from performing on stage might be coming sooner rather than later.
The legendary singer has been performing for many decades since he was a kid when he was part of The Osmonds alongside his brothers. He managed to sustain a successful career as a performer throughout the years, including a Las Vegas residency show with his sister Marie that ended in 2019.
Donny Osmond Hints at Potential Retirement Soon
During his recent appearance on The View, Osmond was asked whether he is eyeing retirement from performing on stage soon.
He replied, "It's coming. Let's be honest, it's inevitable."
After the hosts expressed their shock over his response, Osmond went on to clarify that he still loves performing but it is "inevitable" that he would stop sometime in the future.
"I love what I do. I really enjoy it. I've got a great job. My job is to make people happy. How can you complain about that? Yet, it's a lot of work. I put 100 percent into my show. But I still have a lot of fuel in this body, because I've raised the bar so high for myself," the singer said.
"And the day that I can't reach that bar and give 110 percent on stage is the day the curtain will not go up. It's not around the corner, but it's inevitable because I love what I do. I really enjoy entertaining."
Donny Osmond's Las Vegas Residency
Osmond is currently performing a solo residency show at Harrah's in Las Vegas. He is slated to have shows until November of this year.
The show includes the legendary singer performing a special duet of his hit song "Puppy Love" with a 3D AI version of his 14-year-old self, live on stage. Donny's grandson Daxton Osmond also contributed to make the magic happen.
"It's literally my face, my voice, and Daxton Osmond's body," Donny said as he explained how the company ZeroSpace used old interviews and archive recordings to do the process.
"[Daxton] does musical theater, so he has stage presence. In fact, he saw it for the first time because we recorded this here in New York in January. He saw it for the first time last week, and after the show, he said, 'Grandpa, that was incredible.' It's so cool that we can do that technologically now. We're at that point."
