Fans everywhere were overjoyed when James Cameron admitted that Avengers: Endgame sunk his battleship, ermm, Titanic, and is officially the #2 blockbuster movie. Hell, it might even be the number one film soon if Endgame can keep making money, though that might change now that Pokemon: Detective Pikachu will be showing in theaters soon.
Either way, fans loved seeing Cameron be a good sport and look humble in "defeat." However, fans will really like what War Machine actor Don Cheadle had to say as a reply. The actor simply raised his arms up and said: "it's the fans." He is not wrong.
Let's be clear though; fandom can be one of the most toxic things in media right now. Some fans tend to be so possessive over the entertainment they love, it often leads to them attacking people who think differently from them and maybe even the actors for portraying a character they didn't like. One only needs to look at the Star Wars fandom to know how bad people can get over fictional characters.
Still, there's no denying that it was the fans love for Marvel Studios, the larger MCU, and the original comic books that led to Avengers: Endgame making a ton of money. Marvel Studios deserve credit for putting out one banger of a film but the fandom should be mentioned for sticking to the studio, even with films like Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 2 in their resume.
Also, Don Cheadle is the man. He stands up for trans kids and is War Machine. How cool is this guy?
