The multi-award-winning director Quentin Tarantino has long been accused of having a foot fetish, judging by his cinematography.

Uma Thurman, who has worked with the director in several films, gave her daughter, Stranger Things star Maya Hawke, some advice when it comes to working with him.

Recently speaking on Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast, Maya Hawke was asked if her mum, Oscar-nominated actress Uma Thurman, gave her "any advice about working with Quentin?"

Thurman starred in three iconic Tarantino films, namely, Pulp Fiction (1994), Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003), and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004), before her daughter appeared in his 2019 pic for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

The Stranger Things star Maya was quick to respond, "Keep your shoes on," which led to both her and Poehler breaking out in laughter at the reference.

"Keep them on, baby. Keep those shoes on," the SNL alum quipped, "Perfect advice. Perfect."

Tarantino had been teased about the rumored foot fetish for years, including from Brad Pitt, who jokingly called him out while accepting his SAG Award in 2020 for best supporting actor for his role as Cliff Booth in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

"I want to thank my co-stars, [Leonardo DiCaprio], Margot Robbie, Margot Robbie's feet, Margaret Qualley's feet, Dakota Fanning's feet," the actor said, making the audience laugh, "Seriously, Quentin has separated more women from their shoes than the TSA."

Despite the raunchy jokes, Tarantino admitted to GQ in a 2021 interview that the rumors don't bother him much, "I don't take it seriously," and defended his decision to focus on women's feet in his projects.

In the same 2021 interview, Tarantino continued to defend that using feet in his storytelling matters more because of his influences and how he chooses to showcase them in his cinematography.

"There's a lot of feet in a lot of good directors' movies. That's just good direction," Tarantino said at the time, "Like, before me, the person foot fetishism was defined by was Luis Buñuel, another film director. And Hitchcock was accused of it and Sofia Coppola has been accused of it."

Buñuel personally denied the rumored foot fetishism by saying he doesn't have one but "can be attracted to it intellectually." Coppola and Hitchcock, on the other hand, have yet to address theirs, but it would seem prominent that they share Tarantino's sentiments of only doing it for cinema.
