Doctor Strange Star Chiwetel Ejiofor Reportedly In Talks to Join Venom 3

After the success of the first two films, Sony is officially moving forward with Venom 3 which will see the return of Tom Hardy as the titular Spider-Verse character. So far, the plot details of the threequel remain under wraps as it is heading to production soon.

As reported by The Direct, notable insider Daniel Richtman claimed in his recent Patreon post that Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for playing Karl Mordo in the MCU, is being offered to play the villain in Venom 3.

However, it should be pointed out that this scoop has not been confirmed by the major trades nor confirmed by the actor's reps or the filmmakers involved in the film so we still have to take this alleged casting info with a grain of salt.

Richtman also reported that Owen Wilson was offered a part in Venom 3 that is different from his MCU role of Agent Mobius. However, he allegedly passed and the role is now being offered to What We Do in the Shadows star Jermaine Clement.

Kelly Marcel, who co-wrote the first two films, is set to take over the director's chair for the third installment. She is also writing the screenplay based on the story that she conceived with Hardy.

It is also unknown yet whether other cast members from the previous films such as Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Peggy Lu are going to return to the film. There are also no reports yet on whether it will crossover with the other Spider-Verse properties.

While we don't have any confirmation yet regarding this, it is interesting nonetheless that Ejiofor might be part of Venom 3 for a very different Marvel role and, once again, it sounds like he will be playing another villain which might also lead to a possibility that he'll end up passing the role.

For now, let's just wait and see whether Ejiofor's casting in the film will come to fruition soon or they'll end up casting another actor instead to play the villain role.
