If there's anything the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Four has taught us so far, it's that Wanda Maximoff, who finally embraced her identity as the Scarlet Witch in WandaVision will become one of the franchise's biggest threats. Rumor has it that Maximoff will become one of the main villains of the MCU moving forward and her dark turn is said to begin in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
As it stands, we still have no confirmation if Wanda will indeed be going back to her villainous roots, but according to a new scoop from Hollywood tipster Grace Randolph, one of the reasons cited for Doctor Strange 2's forthcoming reshoots is to give the writers an opportunity to "tone down" Maximoff's character in the film and make her less evil.

Considering the Scarlet Witch has become one of the most popular characters in the MCU over the last couple of years, it's a smart move on the studio's part to not turn her into a crazy villain who is blinded by her grief. Of course, there's still obviously a huge possibility that Wanda will be portrayed as the villain in Multiverse of Madness after being corrupted by the Darkhold but honestly, I don't see that lasting for long.
If anything, I'd like to see her team up with Strange in the film and fight the threats of the multiverse. That's what I'm looking forward to seeing but that's not to say that I would mind an evil Wanda wreaking havoc in the MCU.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently scheduled for release on May 6, 2022.
