Disney’s Bob Iger Confirms That Marvel Is Going To Take Over Fox’s X-Men Franchise

It's official. The X-Men, Fantastic Four and all the other mutants under 20th Century Fox are going to be making their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With the merger between Disney and 20th Century Fox becoming an inevitability, the Mickey Mouse House's CEO Bob Iger decided to speak up about the company's plans for the X-Men franchise. Iger just recently went on a detailed interview with The Hollywood Reporter about various issues surrounding Disney, and during his discussion with the publication, the executive touched upon the company's plans for Fox's Marvel properties which include the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Deadpool and all the other mutants under the studio.

When asked whether Marvel would take on the X-Men franchise, Iger revealed that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige would be overseeing the transition.

"I think it only makes sense," Iger told the publication. "I want to be careful here because of what's been communicated to the Fox folks, but I think they know. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn't be two Marvels."

The Hollywood Reporter also asked about the fate of everyone's favorite Merc with a Mouth (Ryan Reynolds), asking Iger whether or not Deadpool could actually become an Avenger.

"Kevin's got a lot of ideas," Iger admitted. "I'm not suggesting that's one of them. But who knows?"

Based on Iger's response to the various questions thrown his way about the future of the Fox Marvel properties, it looks like Disney's leaving everything in the hands of Feige – something which Marvel fans have been hoping for ever since they caught word that the Mickey Mouse House was buying Fox.

The only question now is when. When are we going to see the X-Men make their way to the MCU? Chances are we won't be able to see these changes till 2019 and after, so I guess Marvel fans just have to hold on to their horses and wait a bit longer.
