Disney’s Wish is an animated musical fantasy film that explores how the dreaming star, which so many Disney characters have wished upon, came to be. Wish is Disney Animation’s 62nd animated film and is part of the studio’s 100-year anniversary celebration. So, who’s in the cast of Wish? Here’s a cast and character guide to the Disney movie:
Ariana DeBose as Asha
Ariana DeBose voices Asha, the 17-year-old protagonist of Wish. Asha is an “optimist with a sharp wit” who cares about her community.
DeBose is known for her role as Anita in Steven Spielberg's 2021 musical film West Side Story, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
DeBose also starred in The Prom, a Netflix musical comedy film, and Schmigadoon!, an Apple TV+ musical comedy series.
Chris Pine as King Magnifico
Chris Pine joins the cast of Wish as King Magnifico, the king of Rosas and the villain in the movie.
Pine is known for his roles as James T. Kirk in the Star Trek reboot film series and Steve Trevor in the DCEU Wonder Woman movies.
He also starred in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves as the bard Edgin Darvis and voiced Jack Frost in Rise of the Guardians.
Alan Tudyk as Valentino
Alan Tudyk voices Valentino, Asha’s pet goat. He has voiced characters in numerous Disney animated films.
Tudyk voiced King Candy/Turbo in Wreck-It-Ralph, the Duke of Weselton in Frozen, Alistair Krei in Big Hero 6, Duke Weaselton in Zootopia, Tuk Tuk in Raya and the Last Dragon, and Pico in Encanto.
Angelique Cabral as Queen Amaya
Angelique Cabral joins the cast of Wish as Queen Amaya, King Magnifico's wife and the queen of Rosas.
Cabral is known for her roles as Colleen Brandon-Ortega in Life in Pieces and Jillian Perez in Enlisted. She also starred in The Perfect Family, Friends with Benefits, and Band Aid.
Victor Garber as Sabino
Victor Garber voices Sabino, Asha’s 100-year-old grandfather, who is patiently waiting for his wish to be granted.
Garber has starred in numerous films and television series, including Titanic, Argo, Milk, Dark Waters, Legally Blonde, Alias, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. He received Emmy nominations for his roles in Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows, Frasier, Will & Grace, and Alias.
Natasha Rothwell as Sakina
Natasha Rothwell voices Sakina, Asha’s loving and supportive mother. Rothwell is known for her role in HBO’s Insecure, where she was a series regular, writer, and supervising producer.
Rothwell also starred in the first season of HBO’s The White Lotus, for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
Jennifer Kumiyama as Dahlia
Jennifer Kumiyama joins the cast of Disney’s Wish as Dahlia, Asha’s best friend who is an accomplished baker and the unofficial leader of their group. Kumiyama appeared in the film The Sessions.
Evan Peters as Simon
Evan Peters voices Simon, a strong guy with a big heart and a bigger yawn. Peters is known for playing multiple roles in numerous seasons of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series American Horror Story.
Peters also played Jeffrey Dahmer in Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, for which he won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor.
Peters also starred as Peter Maximoff/Quicksilver in the X-Men film series and played an alternate version of the character in the MCU's WandaVision.
Harvey Guillén as Gabo
Harvey Guillén joins the cast of Wish as Gabo, a boy who may be cynical, but has a heart of gold. Guillén is known for his role as Guillermo de la Cruz in What We Do in the Shadows. He recently starred in Blue Beetle as Dr. “Sanchez”.
Other cast members of Disney’s Wish include:
- Ramy Youssef (Ramy, Poor Things) as Safi, a boy who is plagued by allergies.
- Niko Vargas (Craig of the Creek)as Hal, Asha’s joyful friend.
- Della Saba (Physical, Ralph Breaks the Internet) as Bazeema, a girl who is shy and full of surprises.
- Jon Rudnitsky (Summer Days, Summer Nights, Home Again) as Dario, Asha’s rosy-cheeked, wiggly-eared friend.
