Diego Luna recently teased the highly-anticipated return of Rogue One character K-2SO in the upcoming season 2 of Andor.
After being prominently absent in the first season, it was confirmed that the fan-favorite droid will finally make his appearance in the acclaimed Star Wars series' second season.
So far, the details regarding the character's return in the second season are still being kept under wraps, but they are slated to explore his origins and how he became Cassian Andor's partner in his rebellion journey.
Diego Luna on K-2SO's Return in Andor Season 2
In a recent interview, Luna addressed K-2SO's return in Andor season 2 and his excitement about reuniting with Alan Tudyk on set.
"It was delicious to get to work with Alan again and be on the same set with him. It just helps fulfill the full circle," he said.
The actor also teased the droid's storyline in the second season where he shared that they will explore his importance in the Rebellion.
"You're going to see why K-2 is so important in Rogue One, and how does he get to be such an important character for the Rebellion," Luna explained.
We have seen in Rogue One that K-2SO is a very important figure in the Rebellion and it is exciting that we will finally learn why he became a prominent droid and how his friendship with Cassian Andor developed.
During the development of the series, K-2SO was supposed to be a major part of the first season, but he was cut at some point during the writing process as they decided to focus more on Cassian's pre-Rebellion origins instead.
Hopefully, we will get more scene-stealing moments in the second season just like in the film and the return will be worth the hype after years of anticipation.
Andor season 2 is slated to premiere on Disney+ in 2025.
