Minions co-creator Pierre Coffin has finally addressed the burning question regarding whether the beloved yellow characters have worked for Adolf Hitler.

It has been established in the franchise's lore that the Minions have served some of the most "despicable" figures in history, such as the likes of Napoleon Bonaparte. This made some fans wonder whether they have also worked for other well-known historical villains like Hitler.

Now, the mastermind behind the iconic characters has weighed in on the long-running debate.

In an interview with Polygon, Pierre Coffin, the co-creator of the Minions and the director of the new Minions & Monsters, addressed the fan debate about whether the yellow characters have worked for Hitler.

"I knew you were going to ask me that question. Shame on you," he said first with a laugh before he responded, "I think they were in that cave."

However, the interviewer countered the filmmaker as he pointed out that Minions & Monsters "establishes that there are multiple tribes of Minions."

"I was trying to avoid the answer," Coffin admitted.

The Minions co-creator doubled down on emphasizing that the beloved yellow characters never worked for Hitler, despite what the lore has established about their personality.

"So the Minions that we know from Minions 1 were stuck in the cave. These ones, I don't know where they were, but they were not part of the Big History," he said.

There you go, the debate has been settled by the co-creator once and for all, and, despite having a historical precedent in the lore of the characters, they did not serve someone who is arguably one of the most (if not the most) despicable figures in history.
