Elizabeth Olsen made her brief return as the Scarlet Witch in Marvel Zombies, but as it turns out, she forgot her involvement in the project.
Set in an alternate timeline introduced in an episode of What If...? season 1, the four-part animated series follows a group of surviving superheroes as they fight some of the superpowered zombies in the post-apocalyptic world. It brought back several MCU stars to reprise their fan-favorite roles in voice form, including Iman Vellani, Hailee Steinfeld, Paul Rudd, and many more.
What Does Elizabeth Olsen Think of Her Return as Scarlet Witch in Marvel Zombies?
During her recent appearance at L.A. Comic-Con (via GamesRadar), Olsen was asked about her return as Scarlet Witch (albeit through a voice role and a zombified version of the character) in Marvel Zombies.
However, she admitted that she has forgotten her involvement in the project since she recorded her lines years ago.
"I truly recorded that years ago. I can’t remember anything. I need to watch it. I have no idea what [happens in] Marvel Zombies," the actress confessed.
"It’s my voice. I did it in my house, I wasn’t even in an office space. This must have been 2020, 2021? Why was I working in my house and not in a studio? I really have no idea what it was like. I’m so sorry."
Despite her confession that she had forgotten her involvement in the series, it still received a rapturous response from the audience in the crowd, as they appreciated her honesty in answering the question.
Olsen's character, Zombie Scarlet Witch, served as one of the main villains that the heroes faced throughout the four episodes.
Is Elizabeth Olsen Returning to the MCU Someday?
So far, there are still no official plans yet for Olsen to make her live-action return as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in the MCU following the character's ambiguous fate in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Throughout various interviews over the last few years, Olsen has expressed interest in returning to the role someday, should she ever receive a call from Marvel Studios.
"It’s a character that I love going back to when there’s a way to use her well, and I think I have been lucky that when I started I was used well. People didn’t know what to do with me for a second there. If there’s a good way to use her I’m always happy to come back," she said in an interview last year.
