Based on the Harry Hole novels, the Norwegian crime drama follows brilliant but troubled detective Harry Hole, who battles his inner demons while investigating some of Oslo’s most disturbing crimes. Along the way, he navigates a complex web of corruption, personal trauma, and a dangerous cat-and-mouse game involving both a serial killer and a corrupt colleague.

If you’re a fan of gritty realism and slow-burning thrillers, then here’s where to watch Detective Hole online and how to use the best VPN services if it isn’t available in your region.

Where to Watch Detective Hole

Detective Hole officially premiered on March 26, 2026, and features nine episodes in total. Here's where to catch it:

As a Netflix original and part of the streamer’s “Next on Nordic” lineup, Detective Hole isn’t available on other streaming platforms or for rent/purchase on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) services like Amazon Prime and Apple TV.

Netflix’s Detective Hole has been a hit, earning a 92% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 75% audience score, with many praising Tobias Santelmann and Joel Kinnaman’s performances as Harry Hole and Tom Waaler.

With such positive reviews, many are now wondering if there will be a second season. Well, Nesbø said this to the Mirror:

  • “No plans yet [for a season two]. Right now, we’re just concentrating on getting this TV series out to the audience, and we’ve been working on this for three years now.”
  • “So, just the thought of starting all over again is a bit premature. We’re exhausted and want a vacation.”

However, Santelmann chimed in that he’s “ready,” to which Nesbø replied, “Then I’m ready too for season two.”

The Harry Hole novel series comprises 13 main novels, with a 14th book coming in November 2026. The first season of the show is based on the fifth installment, The Devil's Star, but Nesbø says he hasn’t decided yet what the second season will cover.

With so much source material still available, it seems likely that Detective Hole will eventually be renewed for a second season. This is all just speculation, though, so stick with the first and only series of Detective Hole for now and stay tuned for future updates on a second season right here.
