A reboot of the hit series Desperate Housewives is officially in the works, more than 10 years after the original series ended.
We're now at the age where beloved TV shows from the past are being rebooted/remade, or turned into a small-screen franchise. Now, it looks like Wisteria Lane will be the next place that is getting the treatment.
Desperate Housewives Reboot in the Works
Reports revealed that a reboot of Desperate Housewives titled Wisteria Lane is officially in the works at Onyx Collective.
Kerry Washington is involved as one of the executive producers of the project, although it is unknown whether she will also act. Natalie Chaidez is attached to write.
According to the logline, the reboot is "set around a group of 5 very different friends and sometimes frenemies who all live on a picture-perfect cul-de-sac called ‘Wisteria Lane.’ On the surface, all the Wisteria neighbors are living the dream. Beautiful homes, gorgeous families, shiny SUVs in the driveway — but behind those white picket fences and smiling Insta posts, are secrets."
None of the creatives in the original series are attached to the project at the moment. It is also unknown yet which network it will be part of.
Eva Longoria recently commented on the potential reboot days before the news broke. She revealed which person would take the "most convincing" to return.
"Marc Cherry, our creator. He feels like we've exhausted the characters. Unlike Sex and the City, [which] was only like six episodes, eight episodes a year, we did 24 episodes a year for a decade," she said.
