LiSA is already one of the most well-known singers in the world of anime, as she has performed lots of iconic opening themes for big franchises. In the future though, LiSA revealed that she hopes to perform a Spy x Family song.

In our recent interview with LiSA, we got to talk with her about her new track for The Irregular at Magic High School season 3.

There, she also mentioned her wish to perform the next Spy x Family song. Plus, she also talked about her surprising musical inspirations, which can give us a clue as to what a potential Spy x Family track would sound like.

LiSA Reveals Her Surprising International Inspirations

When it comes to anime singers, LiSA is no doubt one of the most popular as most anime fans would recognize her iconic songs such as Gurenge for Demon Slayer and Crossing Field for Sword Art Online.

Aside from these tracks, LiSA has also performed songs for international movies such as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. To be exact, she performed a track for the movie’s Japanese release.

While her songs match the energy and themes of their respective shows, LiSA has an unmistakable style that fuses high-energy J-pop production with a punk rock core.

Thus, it’s no surprise that LiSA is heavily inspired by artists from the US such as Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) and Travis Barker of Blink-182.

In the interview, LiSA specifically mentioned MGK’s Tickets to My Downfall as an album that she thinks is amazing to listen to.

Interestingly, she also mentioned Olivia Rodrigo, one of the biggest pop stars in the US right now.

While Rodrigo's music isn’t exactly comparable to LiSA’s, it makes sense given that Rodrigo also has lots of punk rock-inspired tracks.

That’s not to say her favorite Western artists all hail from America though. LiSA also mentioned some interesting bands such as Stand Atlantic and RedHook from Australia, along with Pale Waves from the UK.

Given these inspirations, it’s interesting to imagine what a Spy x Family opening theme would sound like if it was made by LiSA.

Looking back at the previous theme songs in the Spy x Family anime, most of the artists didn’t exactly change up their styles.

For instance, OFFICIAL HIGE DANDISM’s two Spy x Family themes are pop-rock songs that feature the band’s signature complex instrumentation.

Meanwhile, Bump of Chicken’s song Souvenir is a song that’s straight out of the band’s hit albums. The same can be said for the ending themes by Gen Hoshino.

Perhaps the biggest switch-up is Ado, whose song Kura Kura has a brighter and sweeter style compared to her typically darker tracks.

For the most part, though, the artists are able to perform with their signature sound for Spy x Family. Thus, a LiSA song for the series will likely be an energetic punk rock track with a catchy hook.

It’s not clear how well that would fit the series’ next arc, but it would be fun to see an opening animation scene be made for it. Just imagine Loid, Yor, and Anya rocking out on stage in punk outfits.

Do you think LiSA should perform Spy x Family’s next opening if it gets a third season? Let us know in the comments.
