Marvel recently announced the return of mutant pop princess Dazzler in a four-part comic book series where she embarks on a world tour, joined by her fellow mutants Domino, Strong Guy, Multiple Man, Shark Girl, and Wind Dancer.
While welcomed by fans, the timing of the announcement and the choice of mutant to highlight in the new X-Men era From the Ashes is odd, considering speculations of Dazzler’s appearance in the upcoming blockbuster Deadpool and Wolverine, with no less than the global pop superstar Taylor Swift rumoured to play Alison Blaire.
Dazzler writer Jason Loo also teases fans to "get ready to sing along to some new, original songs off of her new album! Some of them may be about her exes."
Swifties are also on the case, with some scouring the songstress’ latest release for lyrical easter eggs about the possible cameo.
Some reports allege that while Swift will appear in the movie, she will be as herself and not as any other character.
Rumours about Taylor Swift’s cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine started to swirl as early as August of last year, further ignited by her attendance at an NFL game alongside the movie's leads, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, and director Shawn Levy.
Levy is no stranger to Swift, as he also made a cameo in the pop star’s All Too Well: The Short Film (2021). When asked about the singer-songwriter's presence in the movie, Levy responded cryptically: “I’m going across the board. ‘No comment’ because that’s a double whammy. That’s Taylor-related. And it’s MCU-related. I’m no dummy. You’re going to have to wait and see."
Deadpool and Wolverine will hit the big screen in July 2024. In the meantime, Deadpool, Deadpool 2, Logan, and Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour are all available to stream on Disney+.
