Of all the Guardians of the Galaxy cast members, Dave Bautista has been the most vocal about James Gunn's firing. The Drax actor has made his feelings about the firing no secret, going as far as to say that he feels uncomfortable working for Disney. Naturally, fans have brought up how he might be fired for all these comments.
During an interview with HeyUGuys, Bautista revealed that he isn't concerned about getting fired.
Bautista does love his role as Drax the Destroyer but admits that this is a case of integrity and loyalty to his friend, so he just can't stay quiet about it. He understands that it might cost him his job but it's a consequence the former WWE Champion is willing to take.
Speaking of his wrestling background, Bautista has also admitted that he would go wrestle in backyards in front of 10 people to make money if he has to make a living should he be fired. The man has battled poverty before so he doesn't feel threatened by it in any way. Frankly, his name has risen in recent years that he would easily be courted back by WWE or a rising federation like NJPW or Impact Wrestling.
Honestly, no one can blame Bautista for feeling this way since Gunn is his friend and helped him become the star he is today. It's clear that he has a blast playing as Drax so it would be a shame to see that end should he be fired for these comments. Still, it's good to know that he won't be pushed around for Disney.
Bautista is expected to return in Avengers 4, which comes out on May 3, 2019. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been delayed indefinitely.
