The first season of Dandadan is set to introduce several characters from the manga, but like any shonen anime, Okarun and Momo’s group is expected to grow as their adventures continue.

The anime had just finished the arc of Aira/Acrobatic Silky, so the next series mainstay is expected to make an appearance in Momo’s childhood friend Jiji. Some fans expect Jiji’s Evil Eye arc will close the series, but it’s possible that he could only be appearing for a few episodes that won’t even close his story.

That being said, there are some recurring characters in the manga that aren’t expected to show up just yet, but for a heads up, here’s who fans could be expecting to join Momo and Okarun’s ranks come the next season.

WARNING: MILD SPOILERS AHEAD

Kinta Sakata/Erosuke

Okarun may have a thing for science fiction and aliens, but his classmate Kinta has a special affinity for all things mecha (i.e., Gundam, Evangelion, and Akira). Kinta actually starts out being jealous of Okarun’s relationship with Momo, and he comes off as a bit of a privileged pervert—earning the ‘Erosuke’ nickname from Momo.

It’s not easy to explain Kinta’s function to the group without spoilers, but character-wise he’s a bit of an incel and is constantly wanting attention from the women in the team. That being said, he’s mostly used for comic relief and is a parody of the serious and brooding anime protagonist.

Vamola

Another antagonist-turned-ally, Vamola is introduced around the same time as Kinta and is the last member of her alien race who has somehow found herself on Earth. Vamola is not too familiar with Earth's language yet and spends a lot of the chapters just piecing words together.

She’s essentially the series’ version of a ‘space girl’—complete with an alien plug suit—and her story kind of mimics that of Superman who was launched to Earth from her dying planet.

Rin Sawaki

Okarun’s Class Rep, Rin Sawaki was just a normal high school student watching out for her classmates; even going so far as to tell off Aira and Momo when she thought that they were taking advantage of Okarun.

A talented singer—which is a relevant point to her arc—Rin also has an affinity for pervy literature and often imagines herself in very precarious situations where she is being taken advantage of by Okarun, who she believes is a vampire after he saw him transform.

Rin has actually shown up in several previous arcs, but she only really takes the main stage a few arcs down the line where it’s revealed she actually has a very tragic backstory involving her childhood friend Mai.

It’s not clear which arc the first season of Dandadan will end with, but a lot of fans are convinced that it will only cover until the introduction of Jiji. With some arcs even going the movie format nowadays (like Chainsaw Man and the Bomb Girl arc), it’s possible that Dandadan could have a movie somewhere in between seasons so some major arcs can be pushed forward in the anime.
