Dakota Johnson recently opened up about her experience working with an intimacy coordinator for the first time.
The Materialists star became a household name when she played Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. She famously had several intense sex and BDSM scenes across all three films.
What is Dakota Johnson's Take on Working with an Intimacy Coordinator?
In her recent interview on Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast (via Deadline), Johnson revealed that she worked with an intimacy coordinator for the first time earlier this year when she filmed a project.
She joked that she is "always psyched up" whenever she films a sex scene, and she had a great experience when she worked with an intimacy coordinator recently.
"And she was really great. It was so cool because I’m so used to—you know, it’s a sex scene. It’s not sexy. It doesn’t feel good," the actress said.
Johnson shared the details on the preparation she underwent for an intimate scene with an intimacy coordinator.
"First, I think it depends on, who is the character, and who is the character supposed to be to the audience. Is she a super idolized hot girl? Is she a housewife? Is she lonely? Is she scared? Is she conservative?" she said.
"So, that’s obviously character work, but then certain prep would go into it. I want to feel good in my body if I’m showing my body. My mom raised me to be really, really proud of my body and love my body. So, I’ve always felt so grateful for that, especially in my work because I can use it and it feels real."
What is the Latest Update on Dakota Johnson?
Johnson stars in the new A24 romantic film Materialists, which recently premiered in North American theaters and became the third biggest opening in the studio's history.
There were also reports that she and Chris Martin had broken up after eight years of being in a relationship.
While neither of them has released a statement regarding the status of their relationship, a report from People claimed that their sources indicated that "it feels final this time."
The Materialists star and Coldplay vocalist have been in an on-and-off relationship for the past eight years, and they've been private about their romance as they rarely discuss it in public interviews.
