Star Wars fans already know by now that Emperor Palpatine will somehow make his return in The Rise of Skywalker. Most of the trailers have been teasing Rey's confrontation scene with the Sith Lord. However, his face, his intentions, and pretty much everything Palpatine is planning is kept under wraps. But Daisy Ridley offers us some details about the anticipated scene.

In a recent interview with USA Today, Ridley talked about the return of the infamous Darth Sidious. She admitted that upon learning about Palpatine's mysterious return in Episode IX, she "had all the questions that a lot of other people have."

However, these questions seemed to have been easily answered in the script, because when the actress read the screenplay, she revealed that it was "(expletive) awesome."

"Really, he's the ultimate bad guy of Star Wars," she said in the earlier part of the interview. She claims that for the film to work, Palpatine "needed to be there."

Director J.J. Abrams also told the outlet that it's "not that shocking" if you look at the nine movies, the character, and what his "ultimate game plan was." He then went on to say that it would be much more "odd" for Palpatine to just "disappear and never be referred again" than not being featured in the movie at all. "There's an inevitability to what we did," he added.

The latest Episode IX clip also teases more of Palpatine's return as he seemingly encounters Kylo Ren and tells him the truth. Without a doubt, the trailer gives me the creeps hearing Palpatine, Snoke, and Vader's voices all in one clip. The sentence uttered is an ominous message to Kylo Ren, that'll be shocking to some fans too.
