- Primary Subject: Spider-Man: Brand New Day
- Key Update: The first trailer confirms Peter Parker is developing organic web-shooters and increased mutation while navigating a New York City ruled by Mayor Wilson Fisk.
- Status: In Production / Trailer Released
- Last Verified: March 25, 2026
- Quick Answer: While Kingpin remains a TV-exclusive threat due to rights issues, Brand New Day links to Daredevil via the Punisher, The Hand, and Mayor Fisk's administration.
Perhaps there's a reason why Matt Murdock, at one point, came to defend Peter Parker in the MCU, after all. Considering that Fisk is one of the major big bads Miles Morales faced in the Spider-Verse, what's to stop the MCU from having Vincent D'Onofrio's Fisk face Tom Holland's web-slinger?
Could the MCU Franchise Replicate Sony's Spider-Man vs Kingpin?

Peter Parker may not be teaming up with Daredevil to battle Fisk anytime soon in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but it's possibly written in the future of the hero in the franchise.
When asked on X about the chances of Fisk crossing paths with Tom Holland's Spidey, Vincent D'Onofrio didn't hesitate to call out the two studios: "If Sony and Marvel ever get their [sh*t] together, maybe. It's a complicated rights issue. Hope so."
In regard to the "complicated rights issue", only a few characters can be "shared" between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, which is how X-Men: Days of the Future Past's Pietro and Avengers: Age of Ultron's Pietro can coexist with one another.
While it remains to be seen how Spidey and Fisk could one day come up against one another, one key element in Brand New Day is that Spidey is being handed the key to the city, the very city Fisk is set to be demoted from. So, there might be time for the MCU's street-level superheroes teaming up sooner or later in the franchise.
Lowkey Signs That Spider-Man Might Be Heading in the Right Direction
The big Spider-Man vs Kingpin might not happen anytime soon, but the trailer and the arrival of Spider-Man: Brand New Day might just satisfy fans in the best way possible.
See, one of the most shocking facts about Tom Holland's version is that his web-shooters don't come from his body, the way Tobey Maguire's did. However, it would seem that the trailer to Brand New Day might be teasing an increased mutation of some sort that would not only make Peter Parker's powers more natural but stronger, too.
Not to mention, the endless possibilities of what the MCU could do when Daredevil's universe is connected to Peter Parker, one way or another.
In the meantime, fans can wait until Spider-Man: Brand New Day premieres in theaters on July 31, 2026.
