Clone Wars’ Emperor Voice Actor Says Palpatine Did Create Anakin Skywalker

The identity of Darth Vader's father has always been one of the biggest mysteries of the Star Wars franchise. Sure, Qui-Gon Jinn may have believed that Shmi Skywalker's pregnancy was a miracle of the Force and that Anakin Skywalker's conception was the result of the midi-chlorians, fans have always longed for something more, suspecting that Palpatine had a hand at the creation of the Chosen One.

Now, Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice actor Sam Witwer shows support for the theory, saying that Palpatine actually did create Anakin Skywalker.

Taking to Twitter right after Christmas, Witwer decided to voice his opinion on the origin of Anakin Skywalker, declaring that it's entirely possible that Darth Sidious was in fact behind the creation of Luke Skywalker's father.

Of course, there were some who disagreed with Witwer, reminding him that Lucasfilm Story Group member Matt Martin just recently confirmed that it wasn't Palpatine who created Anakin. Darth Vader comic book writer Charles Soule also echoed the same sentiment by Martin, reminding fans that "The Dark Side is not a reliable narrator."

Despite these reminders, Witwer continues to stand his ground, saying that George Lucas himself was the one who put the idea in his movie.

Whatever the case may be, it seems unlikely that we'll ever get to see the true origin of Anakin Skywalker make it to the big screen. Now that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has finally premiered, the Skywalker saga has officially come to an end, and the franchise will be moving on to other stories.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is currently screening in cinemas.
