Christina Applegate recently got candid about the impact of her multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis on her daily life.

A few years ago, the Emmy-winning actress revealed that she was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease. Since then, she has taken a step back from acting and has rarely made public appearances.

Christina Applegate Reflects on Her MS Diagnosis

In a recent interview on Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, where she made a guest appearance alongside her MeSsy podcast co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Applegate reflected on the impact of her MS diagnosis on her daily life.

She revealed that she has rarely left her house since the diagnosis and shared some of the misconceptions that people have about the disease.

"I don't really leave the house anymore. I mean, if people saw what my life was like on the daily, they wouldn't be able to do it because I can sometimes not do it. It's really, really hard," Applegate said.

"But I think that the first thing that I hear from people is, 'How did you get it?' Meaning I must have done something wrong in my life to have this disease. I did it to myself. I had breast cancer as well. So, 'Oh, you must have done something.'"

The actress added, "That stigma is, I'm used to it now, but for a while it was so hard to swallow because, why the F would you think that I would do something to have this? Because this is the worst thing I've ever had in my life. It's the worst thing I've ever gone through."

Christina Applegate's Acting Career Today

Applegate took a step back from acting after filming the third and final season of Dead to Me as a result of the MS diagnosis.

She is currently co-hosting the podcast MeSsy with friend and fellow actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who is also diagnosed with MS.

In the podcast, the actresses get vulnerable about the MS's impact on their lives. Each week, they self-reflect, learn, laugh, and grow through their own raw and often-times hilarious conversations with each other, friends, co-stars, and the people that keep them going through the messiness of life.

Applegate is also attached to star in the animated series reboot of Married... with Children, which will only require her to do voice work.
