Christian Bale was recently seen in Atlanta looking like an entirely different person, with a shaven face, a widow’s peak hairstyle, and silver sideburns.

Fans of the American Psycho actor shouldn’t worry too much, though, as he has only changed his appearance for his new sports biopic, Madden.

The 51-year-old will be portraying the late Al Davis of the Oakland Raiders, while Nicolas Cage takes on the role of John Madden.

Bale is seen wearing a black leather jacket, black trousers, and aviator shades in the film, which mirrors the pro football pioneer’s signature ensemble.

Directed by David O. Russell, Amazon MGM Studios describes the forthcoming biopic as:

“The film follows Madden’s remarkable journey — from his Super Bowl-winning partnership with Al Davis and the Raiders, to creating ‘Madden NFL,’ and becoming one of the most iconic voices in football history,”

Like Bale, Nicolas Cage has also undergone a transformation. He was photographed on set with long hair, wearing a fat suit and white sneakers to complete the John Madden look.

What Controversial Thing Occurred During the Filming of Madden?

Madden began production in May, but even two weeks before that, controversy had already surfaced after director David O. Russell allegedly used racial slurs.

One of the film’s actors reportedly left the project after Russell used the N-word while working on a monologue with them, according to TMZ.

Cage and Bale star alongside John Mulaney, Kathryn Hahn, and Sienna Miller in the film, but the identity of the actor who walked away from the production has not been revealed.

TMZ spoke with members of the cast and crew at the time and reported that the director, who also collaborated with Bale on The Fighter and American Hustle, was allegedly described as racist and problematic.

The studio, however, claimed that it was the unnamed actor who initially wanted to include the slur in the script, but ended up having a dispute over the film’s creative approach to a nude scene.

They also stated that Russell reportedly said the N-word even off camera. Sources, though, claim that the actor may still return to the set.

As of writing, Madden’s release date has yet to be announced.
