Chris McQuarrie Gives Update on Edge of Tomorrow Sequel

Edge of Tomorrow was the sleeper hit of 2014, and eighteen years later, people are still looking for a sequel. As it turns out, the movie is still in active development, but there's just an issue of when the production can actually start.

This update was given by Christopher McQuarrie:

McQuarrie himself was attached as a writer to the first film, and the sequel was kickstarted back in 2017 by director Doug Liman. As per ScreenRant, the sequel has a working title of Live Die Repeat and Repeat, and the first draft of the script was completed last October. However, there have been reports saying that the script is going through another rewrite. Add to that the increasingly busy schedules of in-demand actors Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise.

Personally, I thought that the film was actually pretty well-contained by the end, but it really looked like Liman and his team had something good on their hands. The world is pretty interesting, and it does make for some fantastic action sequences. It's just the case of convincing the studio to invest in the project after the first one didn't make as much money with its very high budget.

Hopefully the Edge of Tomorrow sequel starts pretty soon. People can only be so interested for a given amount of time. Then again, as long as the story is solid, and the action is great, I'm sure people will flock to see the film when it comes out.

Maybe it was just the case of marketing?

No release date has been announced for the Edge of Tomorrow sequel.
