Singer Chris Brown arrived in Manchester on May 15 to prepare for his upcoming world tour when he was apprehended by police at a hotel in Salford.

Prosecutors stated that Brown attacked music producer Abe Diaw with a bottle, causing bodily harm, while they were at the Tape London nightclub in 2023.

The controversial R&B artist posted “FROM THE CAGE TO THE STAGE!!!” in all caps on his Instagram story a week later, breaking his silence on the issue while also letting fans know that his world tour would still proceed.

He was granted bail on May 21 by Judge Tony Baumgartner after pledging to pay a $6.7 million bond. However, he did not appear at the UK courthouse when this occurred and has not yet been asked to enter a plea.

Brown’s bail was initially denied on Friday, but after offering an upfront payment of $5.3 million and an additional $1.3 million due on May 28, the court eventually agreed.

This isn’t the first time the “With You” singer has faced legal trouble, as he has dealt with previous allegations, mostly involving “violence” and “aggression.” One of the most notable incidents was the 2009 domestic violence case involving his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

A recent report about his troubling history surfaced when a woman in 2024, identified only as Jane Doe, alleged that Brown sexually assaulted her while she was drugged, at the back of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

Brown’s arrest has caused him some financial setbacks, but it has not affected his Breezy Bowl XX World Anniversary Tour.

It is still set to begin on June 8, with Amsterdam as the first stop on his Europe tour, supported by Bryson Tiller and Summer Walker.

Most of his concerts in Europe will take place in the United Kingdom between June 15 and July 3.

Brown was required to surrender his passport, though he is allowed to travel for touring purposes, according to the BBC.

Had Brown not been granted bail, he would have missed two of his first shows, as his court date had been previously scheduled for June 13. Brown’s next court appearance is set for June 20, 2025.
