[THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR VENOM]
The Venom film may be a critical bomb, but the movie is undoubtedly overperforming in the box office. Probably one of the best aspects of the film is the chemistry between Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and the symbiote, and artist Rachel Matile came up with this cool Venom/Calvin and Hobbes mash-up.
Check it out:
It seemed that the symbiote was an evil character when it first attached to Brock, but by the end of the film, it just started sounding more like a mischievous pet. Throughout the duration of the film, I actually found myself annoyed with Eddie by himself, but I immediately started getting more invested when he began talking to the symbiote.
With the way superhero films have evolved, Venom is no doubt a step back when it comes to the plot, but admittedly, the visualization of the character is very interesting to watch onscreen. Not to mention the back and forth between Eddie and the symbiote is handled perfectly.
For now, it looks like Sony is pushing forward with their SUMC, but some people are guessing that they'll eventually stumble by their second movie — just like they did with the Amazing Spider-Man franchise. The next Spider-Man character in line for them is the Jared Leto-fuelled Morbius which is set to start production soon.
Journalist Eddie Brock is trying to take down Carlton Drake, the notorious and brilliant founder of the Life Foundation. While investigating one of Drake's experiments, Eddie's body merges with the alien Venom -- leaving him with superhuman strength and power. Twisted, dark and fueled by rage, Venom tries to control the new and dangerous abilities that Eddie finds so intoxicating.
