Chainsaw Man ch 167 is perhaps its most NSFW and unhinged chapter yet, and that’s saying a lot given that this is a Tatsuki Fujimoto manga.
Over the years, fans have been blessed (or rather cursed) with some crazy chapters, but in many ways, this latest one is perhaps the most unexpected and memorable one.
In terms of what happened, it’s not a chapter filled with traditional action. Instead, it features an eight-page stretch that, while devoid of dialogue, is quite a tough read.
Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for Chainsaw Man, so proceed with caution.
Chainsaw Man Ch 167 Is Its Most NSFW Chapter to Date
As the previous chapter left off with Yoru (still in Asa Mitaka’s body) saying that she’ll cut off Denji’s dick (which he believes to be the source of his misfortune), Chainsaw Man chapter 167 begins with Denji and Yoru in an alleyway.
Yoru soon picks up a twig which she turns into a knife. She then proceeds to tell Denji that she’ll actually cut it off.
In response, Denji knocks the knife away. Irritated, Yoru proceeds to grab Denji’s privates, threatening to crush his balls so that he can think straight and hopefully let Chainsaw Man out.
Soon though, Yoru remembers a kiss with Denji, possibly indicating that Asa Mitaka is fighting for control.
Denji and Yoru/Asa proceed to make out, with the chapter’s second half simply consisting of panels of the two kissing.
By the end, it’s revealed that Yoru/Asa seems to have done more than kiss Denji. In the penultimate page, it seems that Asa has taken back control of her body as Yoru’s facial scars are gone.
The final page shows Asa’s hand in what’s no doubt a callback to the End of Evangelion’s infamous hospital scene.
Fans Are Wondering Why Shonen Jump Approved This Chapter
Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga has always pushed the boundaries of shonen because of its gory violence and sexual content.
Chainsaw Man ch 167 may just be its most daring and NSFW one yet though, given what was revealed in the end.
Shortly after the chapter’s release, the series trended online, with many fans being in shock by what they read. Many readers also asked on X (formerly Twitter) how the Shonen Jump+ editors approved this.
Shock value aside, it seems that there are some split opinions on this chapter. Some believe that this is too much and comes out of nowhere.
On the flip side, some fans think that this makes the current arc even more interesting, especially considering what this means for Denji and Asa Mitaka’s future. After all, awkward doesn’t begin to describe what happened.
Given the reactions, it’s safe to say that this chapter will become an infamous moment in Chainsaw Man history, and it’ll be interesting to see how the manga’s story proceeds from here.
