Castaway Diva marks the return of Park Eun-Bin as a headstrong girl who dreams of becoming a singer just like her idol, Yoon Ran-Joo (played by Kim Hyo-Jin). While fans didn't know much about Hyo-Jin's character at the start, many were curious to know if she was a villain in Castaway Diva.
Before Seo Mok-Ha (played by Park Eun-Bin) can pursue her dream of becoming a singer, she gets into an accident and gets stranded on an uninhabited island for 15 years.
When she is finally rescued, she eases into modern civilization and gets a chance to meet her idol. But will Ran-Joo help out Mok-Ha? Or is she an antagonist in the story?
Who Is Yoon Ran-Joo?
Yoon Ran-Joo is a singer that Mok-Ha admires. When Mok-Ha gets stranded on the deserted island, Ran-Joo's voice on a cassette tape is what keeps her company
When Mok-Ha gets rescued 15 years later, she gets a chance to meet her idol. Unfortunately, things have changed a lot since she got stranded on the island.
Ran-Joo has become an irrelevant star and faded into obscurity. She is no longer as relevant as she once was.
What Is Yoon Ran-Joo's Role in Castaway Diva?
Eventually, Ran-Joo becomes friends with Mok-ha. After Mok-Ha rallies concertgoers to support Ran-Joo, she earns a soft spot in the singer's heart.
Mok-Ha also supports Ran-Joo by being her backup singer since she knows her songs.
Ran-Joo then decides to take Mok-Ha under her wing and train her to become an idol.
With Mok-Ha's positivity and Ran-Joo's experience in the industry, the two pursue Mok-ha's dream.
Of course, they didn't do it alone. With the help of Kang Bo-Geol (played by Chae Jong-Hyeop) and Kang Woo-Hak (played by Cha Hak-Yeon), they help Mok-ha reach her goals.

Kim Hyo-Jin's Return to the Small Screen
In an interview for The Chosun Daily, Kim Hyo-Jin shares why she had no hesitations in accepting the role:
"I was attracted to my character in the upcoming series because she struggles to live without giving up, even after going through tough times when her career fades. I wanted to tackle this role because it was unlike any other that I've played before."
The actress added:
"Since my character is a great singer with star quality, I learned guitar for the first time to better perform the character. It's not easy to play the guitar without looking while singing, so I'm practicing hard."
