In a world where gods and demigods reside, cyclops are considered monsters who must be avoided at all costs.

And yet, Sally Jackson decided to take in Tyson, even before knowing he was Percy's half-brother. This is because cyclops are often abandoned by their parents when they are born, so they can learn to fend for themselves. So, where does that leave Tyson?

Cyclops are usually incredibly strong. They can frighten other monsters; thus, Tyson's presence often protects Percy from being attacked in Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

When they first landed back in Camp Half-Blood, Tyson managed to protect Percy from fire, as they're immune to it.

It's also worth mentioning that the majority of cyclops babies come from the god of the sea, Poseidon, as they are born to live underwater and become sheep herders in the Sea of Monsters.

But does this truly mean they're immortal and indestructible? Technically, no. They can still die from extreme forces or physical pressures, even more so from enchanted swords and arrows.

Considering that fans have been growing fond of Tyson, though, could his fate lead to a tragic tale in the Percy Jackson universe?

Tyson (played by Daniel Diemer) is Percy Jackson's Cyclops half-brother.

For the longest time, even before being claimed by Poseidon as one of his children on Camp Half-Blood, Tyson has sworn to protect Percy and never leave his side. This is in hopes of becoming a permanent part of the family and never having to feel alone again.

As for his fate, there had been plenty of near-death experiences for Tyson, but rest assured, he has never permanently died.

In The Sea of Monsters, he sacrificed himself to power the ship, which caused an explosion, and yet he is later found alive in Poseidon's Palace, which we'll most likely see more of in season 2.

In the later books, like The Last Olympian, Tyson also experiences more near-death scenes, but is too unbeatable for just anyone to get rid of him from the universe.

If anything, his survival in Sea of Monsters onwards is exactly what solidified his bond with Percy and the rest of the campers.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 episode 3 releases on December 17, and the rest will follow suit every Wednesday.
