Camilla Parker-Bowles made headlines last year following the release of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s tell-all with Oprah Winfrey. During their interview, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that someone from the royal household had concerns about Archie’s skin color. However, Prince Harry and Markle refused to reveal the identity of the person they were referring to.
Shortly after the interview aired, some publications claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were referring to either Prince Charles or Camilla Parker-Bowles. After all, the royal couple was reportedly having a meal together when one of them jokingly uttered the comment about Archie’s skin color.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Weren’t Referring To Camilla Parker-Bowles As The Racist Royal
But a source recently told Page Six that Prince Harry and Markle couldn’t have possibly been referring to the Duchess of Cornwall.
“Camilla is not racist — I can tell you categorically she is not the royal who Harry and Meghan were talking about. Yes, Harry may not love Camilla, but that goes back years — way before he met Meghan and their marriage. And that has nothing to do with any alleged racism,” the source said.
But in Tom Bower’s book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors, the author claimed that Camilla was the one who made a racist remark about Prince Harry’s future son as far back as 2016.
“Wouldn’t it be funny if your child had ginger Afro hair?” Camilla allegedly said.

However, it is important to note that Prince Harry and Markle were talking about an entirely different incident during their tell-all. After all, the couple’s story was more focused on the color of Archie’s skin and not his hair.
“In those months when I was pregnant [there were] concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he was born,” Markle said (via The BBC).
“That conversation, I am never going to share. At the time it was awkward and I was a bit shocked,” Prince Harry chimed in.
Prince Charles Was Reportedly The One Who Had Questions About Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s Son’s Skin Color
In the book Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan, royal author Christopher Andersen alleged that the Sussexes were referring to Prince Charles and not Camilla during their Winfrey interview.
A source told Andersen that the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall talked about their future grandson’s skin color on the day that Prince Harry and Markle’s engagement was announced. And when Camilla heard what Prince Charles said, she was reportedly taken aback and told her husband that their future grandchild will be gorgeous.
“I mean, what do you suppose their children's complexion might be?” Prince Charles then said (via Marie Claire).
As of writing, it’s unclear if the royal that Prince Harry and Markle were referring to in their interview was intentionally being racist or if their comments were simply taken out of context.
