In a recent interview, Sklenar was asked which between Lively and Baldoni is he siding on in their legal battle.

However, he refused to pick a side as he responded instead with, "Team It Ends With Us."

Sklenar went on to explain the importance of making the film and why he would rather shed light on its themes and messages.

"I just want people to remember why we made the movie in the first place and what it stands for, just keeping the focus on that," he said.

"That movie meant so much to me. I have someone very, very close to me in my life who’s gone through what Lily’s going through for a long time and I’ve been on the front lines helping her navigate that space, so that movie meant a lot to me, and it means a lot to her, this person in my life."

Sklenar continued, "Me doing that film gave her the strength to change her life. It means a lot to me. It’s unfortunate that things get taken away from what the ethos of that thing is, and it gets convoluted."

Last week, Lively's lawyer submitted subpoenas to AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile as they sought further evidence to bolster their claim that Baldoni engaged in an unlawful smear campaign against her in retaliation for her sexual harassment complaint.

In response, Baldoni's legal team asked a judge to prevent them from accessing years of his phone and text records as they could reveal location data and his web browser history and called the subpoenas to be "flagrantly overbroad."

"It is hard to overstate how broad, invasive, and atypical these Subpoenas truly are. This is civil litigation, not a criminal prosecution, and (Lively and Reynolds) are not the FBI," Baldoni's lawyer Mitchell Schuster wrote.

Lively's spokesperson said in response to Baldoni's objections, "If they have so many receipts why are they so afraid to produce them?"

A trial date is currently scheduled to take place starting March 29, 2026.
