YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK would no longer accept any gifts from their fans.
In the K-pop industry, fans try to impress their idols by giving them lavish gifts during concerts and fan meetings. It became an intrinsic part of the K-pop world as people do it to express their love and gratitude toward their idol's works. With the help of the largest fanbases, some fans provide the top-of-the-top gift as they spend thousands of dollars for the K-pop stars.
Although the act is an individual indulgence to everyone, BLACKPINK's agency, YG Entertainment, announced it would no longer be practiced on the girl group.
YG Entertainment Issues Statement Regarding Giving Gifts To BLACKPINK Members
On Tuesday, YG Entertainment officially released a statement to reject all the fan gifts on all special occasions respectfully. The post revealed that the BLACKPINK embers agreed to the set-up but are still thankful for everyone's sincere support.
Instead of buying them lavish gifts, the agency and the girl group said they would be more grateful if fans would help charities and those in need. Instead of celebrating BLACKPINK's anniversaries, broadcasts, and performances with extravagant parties, YG Entertainment hopes fans convey their support differently instead.

Although gifts will no longer be accepted, YG Entertainment clarified that handwritten letters will still be accepted. The company also provided an address where fans could send their letters.
YG Entertainment's complete, translated statement goes (via Billboard):
"We would like to inform our grateful fans who always support BLACKPINK about fan support. BLACKPINK members have been struggling for a long time to tell you about the support and gifts that fans have prepared. For BLACKPINK's special days in the future, we would like to politely refuse the anniversaries (group debut anniversary, solo debut anniversary, birthday), broadcasts (music broadcasts, radio, entertainment), performances (snacks, donation wreaths) and postal gifts. We would appreciate it if you could indirectly deliver the gifts and support you are preparing to convey your heart to places in need or for good things (instead)."
What The BLACKPINK Members Usually Get?
Since their debut, BLACKPINK members have already received gifts from their fans which they truly treasured. However, with the number of fans they have, they surely got no place to store the gifts anymore.
For instance, Rose got jaw-dropping gifts during her 25th birthday in February. Her fans even made a long list of the luxurious things the K-pop idol got — from jewelry, bags, and clothes with extremely high price tags.
The gift-giving, unfortunately, only resulted in online commotion as some internet users called out the fans for spending on things Rose could buy for herself.
Now that YG Entertainment established a new rule, BLINKs will no longer find themselves in hot waters while helping people in need.
