The much-awaited comeback to the big screens of Marvel’s First Family is getting closer, and Joseph Quinn, the breakthrough actor who will take on the mantle of Johnny Storm/Human Torch, is getting ready by enlisting the help of his MCU connection.
In an interview, Quinn reveals that he reached out to his A Quiet Place: Day One co-star Lupita Nyong’o for “little words of wisdom from somebody already in that world.”
Nyong’o, who played T’Challa’s lover and War Dogs member Nakia in two instalments of Black Panther, admits that her memory is not good, but apparently, she encouraged Quinn back then to take the role. She adds an odd piece of advice for the MCU rookie, just in time for when the production of The Fantastic Four starts:
“I would say, get a scented candle for your trailer.”

While her advice may sound unusual, even playful, the Academy Award winner is no stranger to working in front of and behind the camera. She started her career as a production staff before booking her breakthrough role in 12 Years a Slave and participating in high-profile projects, The Jungle Book, Little Monsters, Us, and Star Wars.
As revealed by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige in The Official Marvel Podcast, Nyong’o’s advice will be valuable to Quinn and the rest of the F4 cast when filming starts by the end of July.
“Our director, Matt Shakman, has already moved to London, and we start filming at the end of July. Funny story, we start shooting the Monday after Comic-Con,” Feige said.
Presumably, Marvel will do some The Fantastic Four-related promotional work at San Diego Comic-Con before they head to production.
Quinn will be joined in the movie by Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/The Thing), together with Julia Garner (Silver Surfer) and Ralph Ineson (Galactus).
The Fantastic Four arrives in cinemas in July 2025.
