The Office is one of the greatest shows in the history of American TV. It has created some of the most memorable small-screen moments, which have become memes on the internet.
Albeit unexpected, the mockumentary-style series was victorious in capturing the hearts of many and giving fans a good laugh. It ran from 2005 until 2013, with over nine completed seasons.
Regular cast member BJ Novak, who also co-wrote and produced some of the episodes of The Office, opened up, in a recent interview, why he left the show one season before it ended, and the reason will shock you.
Why Did BJ Novak Quit The Office After 8 Seasons?
Novak recently sat down for an interview on the Armchair Expert podcast. The actor explained a few reasons why he quit The Office a season before it ended.
He claimed that he was burnt out and lost the passion for carrying on with Season 9. Novak said:
"I was burnt out, Mindy (Kaling) had left. Carell had left. And they wanted a new showrunner and they asked if I would want to do that and I couldn't imagine it. And I also couldn't imagine just hanging around without it. And I just couldn't do it anymore. I didn't have the love."
Furthermore, Novak admitted that he did not enjoy his time working in The Office as much as he should have had and that he was more of a nervous wreck and insecure. It all boiled down to the stress and pressure Novak felt, leading him to quit before the series ended.
Will There A Reboot For The Office?
Currently, there are no plans for a reboot of The Office. NBC has announced that they are ready to make a reboot if creator Greg Daniel gives them the thumbs up.
We can only hope for The Office would have a reboot. But, after such a stellar cast from the American adaptation, it is hard to imagine a new series.
