Mickey Rourke has been given a warning for his "homophobic" comments against JoJo Siwa in the Celebrity Big Brother UK series 24.
Both American stars are currently serving as housemates in the hit UK-based reality series, which started its new season earlier this week.
Mickey Rourke Gets Reprimanded for Homophobic Slur on JoJo Siwa
Recently in Celebrity Big Brother UK, Rourke was seen asking Siwa whether she prefers to date boys or girls. Siwa answered, "Me? Girls. My partner is non-binary."
"If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore," Rourke replied, to which Siwa responded, "I can guarantee I’ll still be gay, and I’ll still be in a very happy relationship."
Later, Rourke told another housemate, Chris Hughes, that he's "going to vote the lesbian out real quick." However, Siwa overheard their conversation and reacted, "That’s homophobic, if that was your reasoning."
Things went tense when Rourke quipped, "I need a f*g." He pointed in Siwa's direction and clarified, "I’m not talking to you." Hughes called out Rourke for the "homophobic" remark, and the actor clarified again that he was talking about getting a cigarette.
When Rourke left the room, Hughes comforted Siwa, who started to cry as a result of the actor's homophobic slur.
Rourke was called into the diary room, where Big Brother reprimanded him, "Mickey, Big Brother thinks your language was offensive and unacceptable. As a result, Big Brother is giving you a formal warning."
"Right, I understand that. I apologize. I don’t have dishonorable intentions. I’m just talking smack, you know?" Rourke responded.
Once Rourke exited the diary room, he immediately approached Siwa to give his apology.
"I want to apologize. I’ve got a habit of having a short fuse, and I don’t mean nothing by it. I do mean [I’m sorry]. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t say it to you," he told her.
Siwa said that she "appreciates" the apology.
