Beyonce finally won the elusive Grammy Award for Album of the Year during last night's ceremony for her best-selling country album Cowboy Carter.
While the music icon is the most-awarded artist in Grammy history, she was never awarded the coveted Album of the Year award prior to last night. She was considered to be the heavy favorite to win.
Beyonce Makes Grammy History with Her Album of the Year Win
During last night's Grammy Awards ceremony, Beyonce won the elusive Album of the Year award for Cowboy Carter, making her the first Black woman to achieve the honor in the 21st century.
When her name was announced, the entire crowd in the Crypto.com arena erupted in cheers given the historical nature of her win. Blue Ivy Carter joined her mother on stage when she accepted the award.
"I just feel very full and very honored. It's been many, many years," Beyonce said in her acceptance stage. She also thanked the Los Angeles firefighters for their efforts during the wildfires last month.
Beyonce also won Best Country Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance, extending her total number of overall wins to 35 and continuing her reign as the most-awarded artist in Grammy history.
With her Album of the Year win, she follows in the footsteps of Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston, and Lauryn Hill as she is the fourth Black woman to win the coveted award and the first since 1999.
