Celebrity power couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z will be facing off at the Emmy Awards as they are nominated in the same category.
Yesterday, the nominees for this year's Primetime Emmy Awards were announced, honoring the best of television for the past year. Two major halftime shows were recognized by the Television Academy in key variety categories.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are both nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category.
Beyoncé is recognized as an executive producer and performer for the Beyoncé Bowl halftime show at the 2024 NFL Christmas Day game that was streamed on Netflix.
Meanwhile, Jay-Z is being recognized for his work as an executive producer in Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show Starring Kendrick Lamar.
Their respective live variety specials are competing against other nominees such as The Oscars, SNL 50: The Anniversary Special, and SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert.
Beyoncé is also nominated in the Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special category for the halftime show, sharing the nomination with co-director Alex Rudzinski.
Jay-Z has already won two Emmy Awards in the past, while Beyoncé has never taken home a trophy. She could potentially finally win her first one this September.

So far, neither Beyoncé nor Jay-Z has released a statement in response to their Emmy nominations in the same category.
