2024 has delivered a lot of remarkably good thriller movies that were praised by critics and audiences, with some of them already even making it to the list of this year's best.

You might be looking for recommendations on some of the best thriller movies of 2024 that are not for the faint of heart. Fortunately, we have a list for you.

Trap

The new M. Night Shyamalan film follows a serial killer (played by Josh Harnett) who has to evade the authorities while attending the concert of a pop superstar with her daughter.

It received mixed reviews from critics, but Hartnett's leading performance was widely praised. In classic Shyamalan fashion, Trap offers entertaining thrills that will put you at the edge of your seat throughout its 105-minute runtime.

The film will be available on Max starting this October 25.

Zoe Kravitz's directorial debut film Blink Twice follows cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) who was invited by a mysterious billionaire (Channing Tatum) to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his private island. However, Frida started to notice some strange things that made her question her reality.

The film generally received positive reviews from critics with praises towards Kravitz's direction, Ackie's performance, and its bold creative vision. While the film is a slow burn at the start, it offers a thrilling experience and mind-bending twist that will keep you invested.

Blink Twice is available on PVOD platforms.

Apartment 7A

Apartment 7A serves as a prequel to the 1968 classic Rosemary's Baby. It follows struggling dancer Terry Gionoffrio (Julia Garner) as she finds herself drawn in by dark forces when a peculiar older couple promises her a shot at fame.

While it has a story beat similar to Rosemary's Baby, it still offers enough thrills and eerie vibes that will make you invested in Terry's journey, even if her doomed fate has been sealed.

The film is available to stream on Paramount+.

Strange Darling

JT Mollner's acclaimed independent thriller film Strange Darling follows two characters who got involved in a one-night stand that turned a serial killer's vicious murder spree.

This is one of the cases where it's better if you know nothing about the film before seeing it due to the spoiler-heavy nature of the plot. Actor Giovanni Ribisi served as the cinematographer and shot it on 35 mm film.

Strange Darling is available on PVOD platforms.

Longlegs

Oz Perkins' horror-thriller Longlegs follows an FBI agent (Maika Monroe) who uncovers a series of occult clues that she must solve to end the terrifying killing spree of a devious serial killer (Nicolas Cage).

The film became a huge hit last summer and is now the highest-grossing independent film this year. It was also distributor Neon's highest-grossing film to date domestically. Critics praised it for Cage and Monroe's performances and its effective blend of psychological thriller and supernatural horror.

Longlegs is available on PVOD platforms.
